Objective:

To provide expert level assistance for IP backbone concerning GSM switching and signaling network. Assist in managing network architecture, design and dimensioning. Provide IP and signaling domain expertise across all engineering functional teams. Ensure subscriber provisioning capacity to fulfill business requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

Technical assistance in formulation of IP and core network architecture and design (switching & signaling) ensuring efficient, cost effective and futuristic approach.

Produce plans for network design concerning IP backbone and signaling network dimensioning and traffic routing to fulfill Warid business requirements.

Identify and assess network impact due to introduction of new services, features, protocols to suggest modifications to network architecture.

Contribute in ensuring IP backbone & signaling network integrity and performance and its development in accordance with the devised strategy.

Cost evaluation of proposed changes in network design.

Assess network impact due to changes imposed by standards & regulatory bodies and representing Warid Telecoms stake where necessary.

Ensure that suggest network design changes meet network KPIs.

Technical liaison with vendors, project manager and O&M teams to ensure successful delivery of network design changes.

Ensure that best quality practices are followed in all areas of core network design.

Provide support and mentoring to staff.

To actively support at all times, company policies and best practices in the area of legal and regulatory compliance, relying on ones own knowledge or specialist support when necessary.

To actively support, at all times, company policy and best practice in the area of security and information confidentiality, with particular emphasis on protection of sensitive customer information.

Output / Deliverables:

Perform core network design activities to fulfill Warid business requirements. Formulate core network design ensuring zero revenue loss. Formulate network design recommendations ensuring redundancy, efficiency, cost-effectiveness and futuristic approach.

Expert level understanding of GSM (3GPP R4) standards, switching & signaling network architecture and interfaces.

Thorough understanding of GSM signaling interfaces, protocols, message exchange and GSM call flows.

Provable ability to perform network design & architecture and formulate solutions and documentation.

Good understanding of GSM switching network architecture.

Good understanding of IP networks & SIGTRAN.

Good knowledge of Ericsson AXE and GMP platform.

Ability to communicate network signaling and user database related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.

Analytical and logical approach to work.

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
